I miss the Monterey Bay area, where I grew up. Hated the fog then but would love it now.

Thanks, Bill, Shirley, and Flipper:
The skies are actually blue today, yet I woke up to an ash-covered truck this morning. I'm trying to go about the day's business, but with a heavy heart. On my way out from my dog sitting job, I will drive by a burnt-out hillside that I could fairly touch: last October's scare that could have wiped out my gated community.
Please be safe, all.

Thanks, Simon, for the observation. I hadn't even thought about the obvious hazard wood chips are. Some clients have me raking up leaves from live oaks, which never stop falling. They're not so live when they hit the ground.
Yes, when the breeze blows the right way.
I had cats and dogs galore to care for this last weekend and wondered if we got an evacuation order how I'd get all the critters into crates and into the back of my little truck.
Oh, well, not this time, at least!

Off to clean a five-level house, with AC.

Those are good suggestions. Somehow, the obvious remedies didn't occur to me at first. Up until the fires, we opened up windows and doors and let Nature cool off the house at night.
No more.
Thanks for posting. Stay safe, too, you and yours.
